Board and Sword notes: If you are starting out as a GM I would weirdly not recommend this as your first book. Get the Players Handbook and Monster Manual first. Then get it. Its amazing, full to the brim of magical items and teaches you how to make new balanced races and everything, but probably not quite as important as a list of the things your party will punch in the face.
